UK Healthcare Pathway Consultation
You've probably heard ten different answers by now. In one 60-minute session, we look at your profession, your qualifications and where you are right now. Then we tell you what applies to you and what to do first.
Sound familiar?
Between TikTok, WhatsApp groups, friends already in the UK and the regulators' own websites, there's no shortage of advice. The trouble is that a lot of it is about someone else's profession, qualifications or timeline.
These are the questions most people start with:
One video says start with the exam. A friend says sort your documents first. Someone in a group says your qualification won't count, and someone else says it will.
So you either wait, because you don't want to pay for the wrong thing, or you pay for something and then wonder whether it was the right step.
You're budgeting carefully. Work and family still need you. Every exam fee and every document request has to count.
Plenty of people work it out on their own, and that's fine. This is for when you'd rather be sure.
A better starting point
Before the next exam fee, course or document request, get clear on four things:
The regulators' websites have the final word on requirements, and you should use them. But they're written for everyone. A good consultation helps you read them for your own situation: what matters to you, what doesn't, and what to double-check.
That's what personal guidance adds. It doesn't replace the official information. It makes it usable.
Who you'll be talking to
NHMi is a UK-based healthcare mobility consultancy. We help internationally trained professionals work out their own pathway and plan what to do next. We started it because we know how hard it is to get a straight answer.
Cliford trained as a clinician in Kenya and moved to the UK in 2023. At that time, no UK registration body recognised his clinical medicine training, so he started as a Clinical Support Worker and volunteered with an NHS Foundation Trust.
When the Leng Review set out a structured pathway into Physician Associate roles, he began his own application.
Kibwana moved to the UK in 2011 and learned the system first-hand. For the last five years she has supported hundreds of internationally recruited nurses, allied health professionals and doctors through recruitment, onboarding, relocation and settling in.
She holds an Associate Project Management qualification at Level 7.
